A flour is a simple product. The mix already has other ingredient besides flour mixed in. Those could be baking soda or baking powder, seasonings, etc.

Nope…. All purpose baking flour is just flour…. the reason why they put “all purpose” is because of the grind of the flour…cake flour is lighter… all purpose baking mix has baking soda/pwder and some other ingrediants in it… so is for biscuits, pancakes…cobblers, etc. but not for anything light like cakes…

I’m afraid they aren’t the same. You can make your own baking mix at home though. Here’s a recipe for you. You may want to cut it in half or so!

    10 cups all-purpose flour
    3/8 cup baking powder
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 1/4 cup powdered milk
    1 1/2 Tbls. salt
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1 lb. (2 cups) shortening

-Combine all ingredients; mix well, cutting shortening into all.
-Store in an air tight container up to 1 month.
